An Act to amend the Cook Islands Amendment Act 1961
(3 May 1974
BE IT ENACTED, by the Legislative Assembly of the Cook Islands in Session assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1. Short Title - This Act may be cited as the Cook Islands Amendment Act 1973-74 and shall be read with and deemed part of the Cook Islands Amendment Act 1961 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
2. Importation of intoxicating liquor - Subsection (1) of section 6 of the principal Act is hereby amended by inserting after the words "section 7" and before the words "of this Act" the words "and section 7A".
3. Passenger may import restricted quantity of intoxicating liquor - The principal Act is hereby amended by inserting, after section 7, the following new section:-
"7A. It shall be lawful for any passenger arriving in the Cook Islands to bring with him for his consumption or as a gift for any person in the Cook Islands intoxicating liquor of the following quantity and type -
not more than one reputed quart of spirits and one reputed quart of wine;
provided that the passenger is 18 years of age or over and the intoxicating liquor accompanies the passenger on the same ship or aircraft on which he has arrived in the Cook Islands."
