An Act to amend the Transport Act 1966

(27 June 2008

BE IT ENACTED by the Parliament of the Cook Islands in Session assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1. Short title - This Act may be cited as the Transport Amendment (No.2) Act 2008, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Transport Act 1966 (the "principal Act").

2. Safety Helmets - Section 86A (1) and (2) of the principal Act (as amended by Section 12 of the Transport Amendment Act 2007), when it comes into force, shall only apply to persons travelling in excess of 40 kilometres per hour.

3. Classes of Traffic Signs - (1) Section 110(1) of the principal Act is amended by deleting the reference to Class H.

(2) Diagram no. 11 in the Third Schedule to the principal Act is deleted.

4. Description of Traffic Signs - (1) Section 111(11) is amended by deleting the measurements denoted in imperial inches and substituting the equivalent measurements in metric centimetres.

(2) Diagram no. 10 in the Third Schedule to the principal Act is amended by deleting the speed in the sign of "40" and substituting either "30" or "50" as appropriate.

(3) Section 111(12) is deleted.

5. Minor Offences - The Fourth Schedule to the principal Act (as inserted by section 55B of the Transport Amendment Act 1995) is amended by inserting after the reference to "Section 81 to 83 (inclusive)" the following -
