An Act to repeal the Tourist Authority Act 1989

BE IT ENACTED by the Parliament of the Cook Islands in Session assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:

1. Short Title and commencement

(1) This Act may be cited as the Tourist Authority Repeal Act 1995-96.

(2) This Act shall come into force on the day that it is assented to.

2. Repeal

The Tourist Authority Act 1989 and the Tourist Authority Amendment Act 1989 are hereby repealed.

3. Transitional

Upon the date of coming into force of this Act -

(a) all assets and liabilities of the former Authority shall be transferred to and vested in the Crown without further assurance than this section and the Crown shall have all powers necessary to take possessions of recovery and deal with such assets and discharge all liabilities;
(b) all officers and employees employed by the Authority on the date that this Act shall come into force shall after that date, and subject to their respective terms and conditions of employment, become officers and employees of the Ministry of Tourism and Transport employed in such similar positions in the Ministry as shall correspond to the officers' or employees' position of employment in the Authority.

This Act is administered by the Ministry of Tourism and Transport.
