An Act to repeal the Provident Fund Act 1938 and make related amendments to the Nauru Police Force Act 1972.

Certified on 10 October 2012

Enacted by the Parliament of Nauru as follows:

1 Short title

This Act may be cited as the Provident Fund (Repeal) Act 2012.

2 Commencement

This Act commences on certification.

3 Repeal of Act

The Provident Fund Act 1938 is repealed.

4 Transfer of assets

(1) In this section:

'commencement date' means the date this Act commences;

'Provident Funds' means the Provident Fund and the Provident (Employees) Fund established under the Provident Fund Act 1938.

(2) The assets of the Provident Funds existing immediately before the commencement date vest in the Republic on the commencement date.

5 Amendment of Nauru Police Force Act 1972

The Schedule amends the Nauru Police Force Act 1972.

6 Expiry of Act

This Act expires the day after it commences.
