REPUBLIC OF NAURU
PRACTICE DIRECTION NO. 1 OF 2018
LEGAL REPRESENTATIVES COURT ATTIRE
Notified: 13th July 2018
In accordance with section 112 of the Supreme Court Act 2018, I make this Practice Direction that the attire to be worn by legal representatives appearing before the Supreme Court shall be as follows:
(i) in the case of males:
(A) black gown, wig, jabot;
(B) a lounge suit of black or grey colour;
(C) a collared shirt in plain white, blue or any other sombre colours with a tie; and
(D) enclosed black shoes.
(ii) in the case of females:
- (A) black gown, wig, jabot;
- (B) black jacket;
- (C) a black or dark navy-blue dress;
- (D) white, blue or sombre colour blouse;
- (E) black or grey skirts or trousers; and
(F) enclosed black shoes.
(c) Pleaders:
(i) in the case of males:
- (A) black gown and jabot;
- (B) a lounge suit of black or grey colour;
- (C) a collared shirt in plain white, blue or any other sombre colours with a tie; and
- (D) enclosed black shoes.
(i) in the case of females:
(A) black gown and jabot;
(B) black jacket;
(C) a black or dark navy-blue dress;
(D) white, blue or sombre colour blouse;
(E) black or grey skirts or trousers; and
(F) enclosed black shoes.
(a) in the case of males:
(i) a lounge suit of black or grey colour;
(ii) a collared shirt in plain white, blue or any other sombre colours with a tie; and
(iii) enclosed black shoes.
(b) in the case of females:
(i) black jacket;
(ii) a black or dark navy-blue dress;
(iii) white, blue or sombre colour blouse;
(iv) black or grey skirts or trousers; and
(v) enclosed black shoes.
(b) in a criminal hearing of a cause or matter, fully robed.
5. On formal occasions such as the opening or closing of the Legal Year, the Bench and Bar, all legal representatives shall be fully robed, as provided for the dressing requirements of the Court of Appeal.
