THE CIVIL AVIATION (AMENDMENT) ACT 1999

AN ACT TO Amend the Civil Aviation Act.
ENACTED by the National Parliament of Solomon Islands.
Short title.
1. This Act may be cited as the Civil Aviation (Amendment) Act, 1999.
Amendment of Cap. 47.
2. The Civil Aviation Act is hereby amended by inserting therein the following new section as section 7A-
"Power to adopt foreign regulations.
7A. (1) Where the Minister is of the opinion that provisions should be made for the purposes of giving effect to a policy of regional harmonisation or accepted regional or international standard practices adopted in relation to civil aviation, he may after consultation with the Aviation Operators in Solomon Islands by Order designate a foreign country and adopt in whole or in part, as the case may require, regulations, rules or Codes of Practice (in this section referred to as "adapted regulations") of such designated foreign country.
(2) Where an Order is made by the Minister pursuant to subsection (1), such adapted regulations shall be deemed to be subsidiary legislation made under this section and shall have the force of law in Solomon Islands.
(3) The application of such adapted regulations shall be subject to such changes to names, titles, offices, persons and institutions or other conditions or modifications as may be specified in the Order to facilitate the application of such adapted regulations to the circumstances of Solomon Islands from time to time."
