THE TELEVISION (AMENDMENT) ACT 1996

(NO. 5 OF 1996)

Passed by the National Parliament this fifteenth day of August 1996.

Assented to in Her Majesty's name and on Her Majesty's behalf this eleventh day of September 1996.

AN ACT TO Amend the Television Act 1995.

ENACTED by the National Parliament of Solomon Islands.

Short title and Commencement.

1. This Act may be cited as the Television (Amendment) Act 1996.

Amendment of section 4 of Act No. 7 of 1995

2. Section 4 of the Television Act (hereinafter referred to as the "principal Act") is hereby amended by deleting subsection (2) and substituting therefor the following new subsection -

"(2) The Board shall consist of -

(a) a Chairman who shall be the Comptroller or Posts and Telecommunications; and

(b) such number of persons, not being less than 5 nor more than 7 as the Minister may from time to time from time to time appoint, who in the opinion of the Minister possess professional skills as the Minister considers necessary for the purpose of discharging the functions and purposes of this Act."

Amendment of section 7.

3. Section 7 of the principal Act is hereby amended by deleting the words 'one thousand dollars' and substituting therefor the words "ten thousand dollars".
