Case No 189
This eleventh day of July one Thousand nine hundred and thirteen, in the matter of a charge against J.C. Simondsen.
The above named J.C. Simondsen stands convicted before the Joint Court for that whereas on or about October 1912 he kept on his plantation at Malekula the natives Maita, Buntap, and Kaka of the same Island for a period of six months without renewing their agreement at the end of three months according to the provisions of Article LV and WHEREAS the regular engagement of these natives was not notified to the Resident Commissioner as required by Article XXXIX of the Convention.
THEREUPON the Joint Court sentences the said J.C. Simondsen for the said offence to pay a penalty of eight shillings (8/-) and the costs of these proceedings.
The Joint Court acquits the said J.C. Simondsen of the charge of not notifying in the case of the native Livock and the charge of recruiting without a license in all cases.
