This is a charge against Jacques.de PREVILLE, French citizen living at Santo, of having at Santo on 3rd June 1946 committed a breach of Article 54 (par. 1) of the Protocol of 6th August 1914.
The accused's written defence was read and the Public Prosecutor having delivered his address the Court then retired to consider its judgment.
JUDGMENT
Although personal service of summons was made on 11th June 1947 by Le HOUEDEC, Bailiff 'ad hoc', the accused did not appear, nor any person on his behalf, but he forwarded to the Court a written defence.
Whereas the documents in the file afford sufficient proof that Jacques de PREVILLE did at Santo on 3rd June 1946 at the ALLEGRE plantation of which he was manager during the owner's absence, refuse to produce to the French District Agent the native labourers employed on such plantation, thus committing a breach of Article 54 (1) of the Protocol of 6th August 1914,
On these grounds,
The said Jacques de PREVILLE is sentenced to pay a fine of two thousand four hundred and eighty francs (Fr 2,480) and costs amounting to ten shillings and three-pence sterling (10/3 Stg).
