ORAL VERDICT
The defendant Jimmy Remo is Charged with two (2) Counts of Sexual Intercourse without Consent, Contrary to Section 91 of Penal Code Act. A two (2) day trial was conducted from 15 June to 17 June 2016 in Luganville Santo.
The Court heard evidence from Prosecution witnesses. The defendants also elected to give evidence himself and called other witnesses in support of his own defense. At the end of the trial, after the Court heard final submissions from both Counsels, the Court found defendant Jimmy Remo not guilty of the offences charged against him. The Court found it was not safe to convict the defendant on the basis of the Prosecution evidences.
The Court therefore acquitted Defendant Jimmy Remo of the two Counts of Sexual Intercourse without Consent charge against him accordingly. Full reasons of this oral verdict will be provided as soon as possible.
