REPUBLIC OF VANUATU
PROVISIONAL APPROPRIATION ACT
NO. 1 OF 1998
Assent: 14/04/98
Commencement: 31/03/98
BE IT ENACTED by the President and Parliament as follows:
INTERPRETATION
1. In this Act, unless the context otherwise provides:
"Minister" means the Minister responsible for Finance.
PURPOSE
- The purpose of this Act is to authorize the Minister to make funds available for the carrying out of the services of Government for
a period of 3 months commencing 31 March, 1998 or until the Appropriation Act for the Financial Year commencing 1 January, 1998 comes
into operation whichever event occurs first.
PROVISIONAL APPROPRIATION
- Notwithstanding the provisions of any Act, the Minister may approve provisionally by warrant under his hand, at no more than monthly
intervals for a period of 3 months commencing 31 March 1998 or until the Appropriation Act for the financial year commencing 1 January
1998 comes into operation, whichever event occurs first, the issue from the Revenue Fund of such monthly sums as are necessary for
carrying out the services of the Government at a level not exceeding the level of those services for the equivalent period in the
previous financial year.
COMMENCEMENT
- This Act will be deemed to have come into force on the 31st day of March 1998.
